Occupational Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an umbrella term for the application of behavioral science to socially significant behaviors. ABA encompasses a variety of scientifically proven treatment methods to address all types of behaviors. This means ABA can be used to teach new skills as well as reduce socially inappropriate behaviors. ABA can also be used to teach individuals of all levels of functioning, diagnoses, and challenges.

Many specific treatments using ABA principles have been shown to be effective in teaching children on the autism spectrum. Connec-to-Talk implements Pivotal Response Training (PRT) whenever possible. PRT emphasizes increasing a child's motivation to learn, as well as integrating multiple cues into therapy to assist in generalization from the begining. PRT is often referred to as play-based or naturalistic in nature. Staff are also trained to implement a number of other teaching strategies if deemed necessary.

Therapy involves identification of skills and target behaviors for change, implementation of behavior intervention techniques, and measure of progress. Connec-to-Talk designs treatment programs that are individualized to meet the specific needs of the child. Behavioral intervention at Connec-to-Talk is always supervised by a Behavioral Specialist/Analyst. If you choose to also receive Speech Therapy and Occupational therapy with Connec-to-Talk, staff will work as a team to ensure that your child's therapy is comprehensive and addresses your child's needs in all areas.

In addition to Behavior Therapy, Connec-to-Talk also offers the following ABA Services:

*Functional Behavior Assessments

*Parent/Caregiver Training

* School Shadows

*SchoolConsultationServices

*Social Skills Training

*Pivotal Response Training (PRT)
