Treatment Philosophy
Our services are designed to meet the needs of the whole child. The CTT speech pathologists assess each child as an individual and develop treatment plans that take into consideration the child’s life outside of therapy.
Therapy
At Connec-to-Talk, we strive to teach the child without it appearing to be work for them. Our treatment sessions range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. The length of the session depends upon the child’s age, attention-level, and their individual tolerance for therapy. Our therapists structure their sessions around books, art activities, experiments, and games, so the child enjoys therapy and will be successful.
The CTT therapist uses multiple therapeutic techniques to create a treatment plan that can carry into the child’s home life. These therapeutic techniques include the Kaufman Speech Praxis, PROMPT (tactile cues), Michelle Garcia Winner’s curriculum, Carol Gray’s Social Stories, Picture Exchange System (PECS), and literacy-based language therapy. The CTT therapist incorporates these techniques into an individualized treatment plan that best meets the child’s needs.
The CTT therapist creates goals that can be practiced during daily activities (i.e. bath time, story time, dinner). Therefore, the child and his/her family are able to take the skills acquired during therapy and carry them into everyday living. This greatly increases the child’s skill generalization and is more natural for the family.
Treatment plans are reassessed frequently to measure progress towards meeting the established goals and objectives. CTT therapists are open to regularly consulting with the adults in other critical areas of the child’s life (i.e. school teachers, counselors, care takers, religious leaders) in order to foster increased skill generalization. In addition to individual speech therapy, co-treatment options with occupational therapy and ABA therapists are also available
